Prof. Stanislaw TURCZYN

Stanisław Turczyn (Professor, Ph. D., Eng.), was retired in 2021 from Department of Metals Engineering and Industrial Computer Sciences at the University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland.  He was graduated in 1975 in metal forming and in 1981 he obtained  Ph. D. from the same University. He also studied at the Lehigh University in Bethlehem (USA), where at the same time he does research on strip rolling. In 2009 he obtained the title “Professor of Technical Sciences”.

Research activity of Professor Turczyn concentrates on metal forming, especially on roll pass design, theory and technology of rolling processes, computer modelling and numerical methods. He was involved in realization of about 200 projects and grants for metallurgical industry. Most of these works were implemented into industrial rolling mills. During academic activity he taught undergraduate, graduate and doctoral courses in the field of metal forming.

Professor Turczyn is an author of four books and published more than 150 papers in scientific journals in Poland, Germany, USA, China, Czech Republic, Slovenia. Most of them are focusing on rolling processes and roll pass design. For many years he was the board member of the Association of International Roll Pass Design and Rolling Mill Engineers (AIKW). His hobby is skiing, wind surfing and apiculture (beekeeper).
