Prof. Ing. Eva MAZANCOVÁ, CSc.

Prof. Ing. Eva MAZANCOVÁ, CSc.

VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, fmr, Czech Republic, EU

Prof. Eva Mazancová graduated from the Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Metallurgy in 1975. Subsequently, she entered the Research Institute of NOVA HUT Ostrava. After a short engagement in a metallurgical laboratory, she worked the first 18 years in technological research and then 8 years in the physical laboratory of the present ArcelorMittal Ostrava. In 1981, she has completed an External scientific postgraduate study by the defence at the Technical University of Ostrava in the field of Physical metallurgy and limit stages. In 1986, she has been awarded ČSAV II. Scientific qualification level. In the years 1988 - 1994, she lectured externally at the Department of Materials Engineering. In 2002, she has successfully habilitated at the Technical University of Ostrava in the field of Material Science and Engineering. From 2003 to 2022 she was a member of the Department of Materials Engineering at the Technical University of Ostrava. At the beginning of 2009, she was appointed professor.

More than 40 years of research and scientific activity has focused mainly on the heat treatment of steels, including the optimization of microstructure conditions research in terms of mechanically metallurgical properties achieved. In addition to belts and profiles, she has been oriented primarily on the development of oil tubes, including solution the issues related to hydrogen embrittlement. She has reached very positive results in this area, which led to the patent at the time.

Her expertise focuses on hydrogen brittleness, the mutual relationship between the metallurgical properties of constructional steels and managed control of the mutual structural parameters. An integral part of her activity was the assessment of the causes of material defects appearance in relation to the conditions of exploitation and the type of microstructure. In recent years, she has focused on controlled steel transformations, properties of high-manganese steels of TWIP and TRIPLEX type and bimetals welded by an explosion.

She has published about 160 articles in professional journals and about 200 articles in national and international proceedings. She has also authored a monograph, co-authored a book published in Cambridge, 9 textbooks and a number of research reports and studies.
